Markham Sworn In As New Coweta County Probate Judge

Coweta County, GA -- After the retirement of Judge Mary Cranford, Carrie Beavers Markham was sworn in as probate judge in Coweta County.

Markham told the Newnan Times Herald she and her staff hope to make the probate court a safe place for Coweta residents to go, as they are often there during a difficult time. “It is likely that all of us are going to be in probate court at some point in our lives, whether it's for a birth certificate, marriage license, fireworks permit or to deal with the death of a loved one,” she said.

“We all here are very aware that people come into this court in a time of crisis in their life, so one of our biggest jobs here is to protect the vulnerable, and we all take that job very seriously.”

As an attorney, Markham practiced law in Atlanta at Alston and Bird for four years before moving back to Newnan in 2009. Upon returning to Newnan, she joined the firm of Rosenzweig, Jones, Horne and Griffis, where she has worked for the past 10 years, primarily in the area of civil litigation.
